A great simple dish, tumeric stir fried cabbage is a bright, vibrant and flavourful dish, great to pair with any meal. It is commonly served as a dish to accompany curries and rice and can be a great way to tame the heat and to get some added nutrition. ​ The addition of mustard seeds, fennel seeds and cumin seeds not only adds a nice fragrance but it great enhances the flavours. Not to mention tumeric has great medicinal properties, with evidence proving it helps fights Alzheimer's disease, reduce inflammation, and even improve brain health. A great, simple and health packed dish.
Ingredients
White Cabbage
1ts Tumeric
1ts Mustard Seeds
1ts Fennel Seeds
1ts Cumin Seeds
Fresh Coriander
STEPS
Start by peeling and slicing your cabbage into bite size pieces.
In a pan add in enough oil to cover the base and heat over medium high heat.
Once hot add in your mustard, fennel and cumin seeds and give it a light fry till fragrant.
Add in your chopped cabbage along with 1/8 cup of water and 1ts of tumeric powder and give it a good stir. Cover and let it steam for 10 - 15 minutes till tender.
Once tender season with salt to taste and fry till the water has completly evaporated.
Garnish with some freshly chopped coriander and serve up along side your favourite curry.
