SPAGHETTI & MEATBALLS

Ingredients

  1. 100g Mince Beef

  2. 100g Mince Pork

  3. 75g Mushrooms

  4. 1 Can Peeled Plum Tomatoes

  5. 1 Fresh Tomato

  6. 2 Carrots (Finely Chopped)

  7. 1/2 White Onion (Diced)

  8. 3 Cloves Garlic (Diced)

  9. 500g Spaghetti

  10. Mixed Italian Herbs


STEPS

Marinara Sauce

  1. In a pot add some oil and stir fry your onions till translucent & fragrant

  2. Add in your carrots, mushrooms, 2 cloves of minced garlic, chopped fresh tomatoes & a can of peeled plum tomatoes

  3. Add 1 can of water and bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to medium low to simmer away

  4. Let it simmer for 45-50 minutes till you are presented with a thick lovely tomato sauce, add salt and pepper to taste

Meatball TIME!

  1. ​In a bowl combine 100g of 20% fat mince beef and mince pork

  2. Add 1 clove of minced garlic, salt, pepper & mixed italian herbs

  3. Give the mixture a nice mix together to ensure all the spices are incorporated into the meat

  4. Using your hands start to roll out the meatballs about the size of a golf ball. You should be able to get about 12-16 meatballs.

  5. In a pan on high heat add a bit of oil and start to place your meatballs inside to get a nice sear on it (A golden brown crust) this is to seal all the lovely juices inside.

  6. Once all the meatballs on all sides have developed a lovely brown crust add your prepared marinara sauce into the pan and start to scrap the bottom to incorporate all the fond (brown bits stuck at the bottom) into the sauce.

  7. Take care to not break your meatballs, on low heat slowly simmer the sauce and the meatballs for 10-15 minutes stirring once in a while.

  8. Boil up some of your favorite pasta, plate and enjoy.

Extra: Add a lovely grating of cheese over your pasta or even incorporate some grated cheese into your meatball mixture for extra sinful yummy-ness.
